FAQ | Getting Started

What is therapy like?

Therapy is a safe, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It’s not just talking about problems—you’ll also learn practical tools and strategies to help you cope, grow, and make meaningful changes in your life.

You can schedule an appointment online through our website or by contacting our office directly. We’ll work with you to find a time that fits your schedule.

In your first session, your therapist will get to know you, understand your goals, and outline how therapy can support you. You’ll also have the chance to ask any questions about the process.

We provide therapy for adolescents and adults, starting at age 14 and older.

We prioritize your child’s privacy while keeping parents informed about general progress. We provide updates on goals, strategies, and engagement in therapy, but do not share specific session details without the teen’s consent, unless there is a safety concern.

FAQ | Frequency & Duration

How often do we meet?

Most clients start with weekly sessions, though the frequency can be adjusted based on your needs and progress. Some people move to bi-weekly sessions as they gain tools and confidence.

Therapy is unique to each person. Some clients see noticeable changes in a few weeks, while others may work together for several months. The pace depends on your goals, the issues you’re addressing, and your comfort level.

Therapy is a collaborative process. If you’re not feeling progress, we’ll work together to adjust the approach, explore what’s blocking change, or discuss other options to ensure you get the support you need.

FAQ | Treatment Approaches

Do you treat anxiety, depression, trauma, or OCD?

Yes! We work with a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, OCD, and more.

Yes. Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is one of the evidence-based approaches we use to help clients manage OCD and anxiety-related conditions.

We use evidence-based approaches such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), ERP, and other techniques tailored to your needs—all delivered with compassion and respect.

We treat a broad spectrum of OCD, including:

  • Contamination & cleaning – Fear of germs or dirt, leading to excessive washing.
  • Checking – Repeatedly checking locks, appliances, or actions to prevent harm.
  • Hoarding – Difficulty discarding items, leading to clutter.
  • Symmetry & ordering – Compulsions to arrange or organize until it feels “just right.”
  • Intrusive / “Pure O” thoughts – Distressing unwanted mental images or thoughts.
  • Trichotillomania & Excoriation – Hair-pulling or skin-picking behaviors.
Misophonia – Strong emotional reactions to specific sounds.
  • Harm / violent thoughts – Fear of causing harm to yourself or others.
  • Relationship OCD – Obsessive doubts about feelings toward or from a partner.
  • Scrupulosity / religious OCD – Obsessions about morality or offending a higher power.
  • Sexual thoughts & sexual orientation OCD – Distressing sexual or orientation-related obsessions.
  • Taboo thoughts – Intrusive thoughts about socially unacceptable topics.
  • Perfectionism & counting/repeating – Need for tasks to be flawless or performed in certain patterns.
  • Hyperawareness / health-related & somatic OCD – Excessive focus on body sensations or health.
  • Magical thinking / superstitious OCD – Beliefs that thoughts or actions can prevent harm.

We use evidence-based approaches, especially ERP, to help reduce distress and improve daily functioning.

FAQ | Logistics & Flexibility

Do I have to come in person?

No. We offer both in-person and virtual sessions to make therapy accessible and convenient, no matter where you are.

Absolutely. Finding the right therapeutic relationship is essential. If you feel another therapist might be a better fit, we’ll support you in making that transition smoothly.

We accept many insurance plans. Please contact our office for details about coverage and payment options.

Standard sessions are 50 minutes, which allows time to focus on your needs while keeping the session manageable and productive.

FAQ | Couples & Relationship Therapy

How do you navigate couples therapy?

Couples therapy is a collaborative process that focuses on communication, understanding, and problem-solving. We help partners explore patterns, strengthen connections, and develop practical strategies to improve the relationship. Each session is tailored to the couple’s unique needs, always with a focus on safety, respect, and mutual growth.

Our team respects each client’s values and decisions. Therapy supports the health and well-being of individuals and relationships, whether that means strengthening a partnership, navigating separation, or finding a path forward after divorce. We provide guidance, coping strategies, and clarity—without judgment—so clients can make the choices that are best for their lives.
